Alpine Botanicals Apothecary was born from a desire to return to something simpler—to reconnect with nature and create skincare and personal-care products with ingredients chosen thoughtfully and with purpose.
Surrounded by the vast landscapes and natural beauty of Montana, We found inspiration in the botanical traditions that existed long before modern shelves became filled with highly processed personal-care products.
We wanted to create something different. Something made with botanical oils, nourishing butters, herbs, plant extracts, clays, minerals, and other carefully selected ingredients. Something we could make with our own hands, understand ingredient by ingredient, and feel proud to put our name on. That desire eventually became Alpine Botanicals Apothecary.
Inspired by the Mountains of Montana
There is something about the mountains that continually brings you back to what is essential.
The forests, wild herbs, changing seasons, mineral-rich earth, and rugged landscapes of Montana became an important part of the philosophy behind Alpine Botanicals Apothecary.
Our original inspiration came from the rich botanical heritage of the Rocky Mountains and a fascination with the traditional uses of plants, oils, herbs, and other naturally derived ingredients.
That philosophy continues to guide the products we create today.
Rather than beginning with trends, we begin with ingredients. We look at what each ingredient contributes to a formulation and how different botanical oils, butters, extracts, minerals, clays, salts, and other materials can work together to create a product that is both beautiful and purposeful. Nature provides an extraordinary palette to work with—and much of the character of Alpine Botanicals comes directly from it.
Made by Hand, Not Just Designed That Way
“Handcrafted” means something very literal here.
Alpine Botanicals Apothecary is a small independent business, and we personally involved in creating the products that leave our workshop.
We formulate and make the products in small quantities. We measure and blend the ingredients. We pour the creams. We fill the jars and bottles. We make and cut the soaps. We inspect the finished products.
And when it is time to package them, we do that too.
Rediscovering Botanical Traditions
One of the ideas at the heart of Alpine Botanicals is that some of the most interesting ingredients aren't new at all.
Plants and naturally derived materials have been incorporated into personal-care traditions for generations. Modern formulation gives us the opportunity to revisit those ingredients while creating products suited to the way we live today.
You'll find that philosophy throughout our collections—from botanical face and body creams to specialty oils and traditionally made cold process soaps.
Ingredients such as rose water, calendula, stinging nettle, blue yarrow, sea buckthorn, comfrey, amla, bhringraj, plant oils, natural butters, clays, mineral salts, goat milk, honey, coffee, and herbs each bring their own history and character to the products we create.
Sometimes they also provide the colors, textures and subtle variations that make naturally inspired handcrafted products so distinctive.
